University of Toronto

The University of Toronto, with a total enrolment of more than 70,000 students, 129 academic departments, and 75 doctoral programs, is the largest English-language university in Canada and a major centre for research and graduate studies.

Established in 1827, the University of Toronto is recognized as a global leader in research and teaching. The university has three campuses in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and is home to one of the top 4 research libraries in North America.

University of Waterloo

The University of Waterloo is recognized as a leader in the fields of Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science. Waterloo operates the world's largest co-operative program, with more than 10,000 students participating. The co-operative option is available in all six faculties, through 40 educational programs. The University of Waterloo, founded in 1957, provides advanced training to more than 25,000 full and part-time students per academic year. The University of Waterloo is recognized as a leader in technology transfer to the private sector; it is the source of over 250 spin-off companies.

Choosing UW as his only Canadian University stop in winter 2005, Bill Gates, President of Microsoft, is quoted as saying "We hire more people from Waterloo than any other university in the world. They are good people and the University has a great co-operative program". MicroSoft has recruited more than 600 graduates from UW, more than from any other educational institution, including MIT or Harvard.

Queen's University

Established in 1841, Queen's is one of Canada's leading universities, with an international reputation for scholarship, research, social purpose, spirit and diversity. Consistently ranked as one of the top medical/doctoral universities in Canada by Maclean's magazine, Queen's is known for its high quality and incomparable 24-hour learning environment.

Located in historic Kingston, Ontario, Queen's is home to over 20,000 students and over 2,300 faculty, offering undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees in 17 faculties, schools and colleges.

Queens University has also gone international with a study centre in Herstmonceux England with 190 students currently enrolled at the international study centre from 11 universities.

McMaster University

Lauded year after year as the country's "most innovative" research-intensive university by Maclean's magazine, McMaster boasts faculty who are committed to turning their innovations into inventions and to moving their technologies into the marketplace.

McMaster University was founded in 1887, and moved to its current location in Hamilton in 1930. McMaster boasts almost 20,000 students and almost 1,400 full-time faculty. McMaster also offers students global opportunities by participating in more than 40 international exchange agreements.

University of Western Ontario

Founded in 1878 by Bishop Isaac Hellmuth and the Anglican Diocese of Huron as "the Western University of London Ontario", Western is one of Canada’s oldest universities. The first students graduated in arts and medicine in 1883.

Today, The University of Western Ontario is a vibrant centre of learning with over 1,200 faculty members and almost 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Through its 12 Faculties and Schools and three affiliated Colleges, the University offers more than 60 different degree and diploma programs.

York University

Founded in 1959, in Toronto, Canada, York University is Canada's third largest university. With almost 50,000 students, York has a national and international reputation for innovation and excellence in scholarship and teaching. York University is also home to the largest Faculty of Arts in Canada.

University of Ottawa

Recognized as Canada's premier bilingual university, the University of Ottawa was established as the College of Bytown in 1848. It is located in the heart of the National Capital, at the crossroads of French and English Canada. The University of Ottawa has carved a place of distinction for itself among Canada's leading universities through its 300 programs, 10 faculties, and by enabling students the choice to study in English or French. Further, University of Ottawa boasts the 3rd largest co-op program in Canada with a 95% placement rate. Wilfrid Laurier University

Founded in 1911, Wilfrid Laurier University is one of Canada's foremost small universities, with a strong sense of community and top marks within Maclean's magazine's university rankings. An institution with a distinct commitment to teaching, Laurier combines programs in Humanities, Social Sciences, and Sciences with those in Professional Schools. The ratio of students to faculty is a low 25:1. Carleton University

Originally established by the YMCA in 1942, Carleton University has recently become one of Canada’s leading comprehensive universities. One of two universities situated in Ottawa, Carleton is known as Canada’s Capital University. The university offers over 100 unique and challenging programs to over 23,000 full-time students.

University of Windsor

As Canada’s southernmost university, the University of Windsor is home to over 13,000 full time and 3,000 part time students. University of Guelph

Ranked as Canada’s best overall university by Maclean’s magazine in 2006, the University of Guelph is also a leader in plant and animal life-sciences and a major research centre for agri-food, biotechnology and environmental industries. The university is committed to promoting a research-intensive and learning-centred experience for all students.

The University of Guelph is associated with 10 faculties and colleges that provide 80 undergraduate and 45 graduate degree programs to over 18,200 full time students. As one of Canada’s top research institutions, Guelph receives more than US$106 million in external funding research. A major research park covering over 12 hectares of land was recently established adjacent to the university and is home to 30 companies that are associated with research occurring at the university.
