NOTES:
1 The statistics are derived from Statistics Canada’s 2004 survey of industrial R&D activities in Canada. The 2004 survey, conducted in 2005, collected data on actual R&D spending for 2004, on preliminary figures for 2005, and on spending intentions for 2006. The survey covers firms spending a million dollars or more on the performance or funding of R&D in Canada, and from the administrative data of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for firms which spend less than a million dollars on the performance or funding of R&D in Canada. R&D statistics are provided for 46 industries falling under six sub-groups. The industry breakdown is in accordance with the North American Industry Classification System Canada 2002 (NAICS).
