Mergers and Acquisitions
Ontario Cross-Border Mergers and Acquisitions Activity (2002-2006)
Ontario companies continue to exhibit a strong appetite for foreign companies. Given Canada’s position within NAFTA, foreign buyers also find investments in Ontario companies attractive as they can provide a platform from which to enter the U.S. market. In 2006, Ontario companies acquired Cdn$36.23 billion of foreign companies while foreign companies invested Cdn$77.15 billion in Ontario businesses and assets.
