Skilled Workers

The Skilled Worker category selects applicants with a strong likelihood of integrating into the Canadian workforce.

Applicants are selected on a point system which considers factors of age, education, work experience, arranged employment in Canada, English or French ability and adaptability measures. Applicants must have a minimum of one year experience in a skilled occupation and meet a pass mark of 67 out of 100 points in order to be selected. The Department of Citizenship and Immigration has an on-line assessment tool where you can assess your ability to qualify.

Applications for permanent residence must be submitted to a Canadian visa office outside of Canada that serves the country where you have been legally admitted for at least one year, or your country of nationality.

All applicants for permanent residence and their dependents must meet health and background requirements in order to be approved.

Some occupations in Ontario are regulated by self-governing regulatory bodies. Information on regulated professions and international credential assessments is available through the Ontario Access to Professions and Trades site.
