The government of Ontario has developed the Passport to Business Success (PBS) program with the federal and municipal governments to encourage entrepreneurship and new business start-ups. PBS will assist you to access the wide range of services available to you as a recently arrived business immigrant to help you to settle your family and to establish your business.

This initiative is designed to help you:

  • Gain knowledge of Canadian business practices
  • Establish your business sooner
  • Save time and money
  • Utilize your unique business skills
  • Get valuable professional assistance

As a PBS member, you will periodically be invited to or advised of various events such as: networking/information sessions, seminars, business forums. These events are meant to help ease your transition both personally and professionally.

Seminars on Doing Business in Ontario are provided for recently landed business immigrants. These seminars are presented in a number of languages and are designed in particular for immigrant Entrepreneurs with terms and conditions on their visas. These seminars provide information on starting a business, Canadian tax and banking systems, business opportunities, and the removal of terms and conditions.

Entrepreneurs should review the terms and conditions removal guide on the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada web site for details on their reporting requirements.

As a recently arrived business immigrant you may have unique business issues. If you have not already had the opportunity to do so, we encourage you to visit an Enterprise Toronto office to speak with a consultant. They can provide you with free individual business consultations on topics ranging from business planning and market research to networking with local business associations.
